James Findlay has considerable experience of the law as to both provision of public housing, particularly homelessness, allocation and vires, housing benefit as well as general landlord and tenant matters. He has also been involved with a considerable number of cases for and against social services authorities concerning care of children and mental health matters. He successfully appeared in the Court of Appeal in 2008 for Ipswich Council in a homeless persons case, and for Welwyn Hatfied in the Court of Appeal in 2009 where it considered the impact of Doherty in a local authority possession action. He appeared in the Supreme Court in Al-Ameri in 2004 on the issue of asylum seekers, local connection and homelessness.
