The Examination into the DCO application for the 20 km dual carriageway Norwich Northern Distributor Road (NDR) ended on 2 December 2014. The NDR is a £149 m highway scheme which will provide connections between the northern radials of Norwich (including the A1067 and the A140) and the A47(T) at Postwick so unlocking housing and employment growth in the northern suburbs and improving the connectivity of Norwich International Airport. The NDR is the first road scheme designated by the Secretary of State as a project of national significance under s.35 of the Planning Act 2008 to complete its DCO Examination. The NDR is one of the Top 40 National Infrastructure Projects in the National Infrastructure Plan 2014. The DCO Examination began on 2 June 2014 and was completed on time on 2 December 2014. The Examining Authority will now prepare their report for the Secretary of State and a decision is expected in the first half of 2015. Michael Bedford and Estelle Dehon acted for Norfolk County Council, the promoting highway authority.
