Unsurprisingly, 2020 will be known as the year of COVID-19 and the lockdown, and in housing terms the 5-month possession stay will clearly dominate. There have also been non-pandemic developments however, not least in the courts' treatment of the public sector equality duty in possession claims and homelessness appeals.
Looking ahead the abolition of section 21 is keenly awaited, planning reforms may impact on social housing builds, disrepair claim "farming" will no doubt continue apace.
Ranjit Bhose QC chaired this webinar, joined by Catherine Rowlands, Andy Lane and Ruchi Parekh, who provided their experience and insight into the highs and lows of housing past, and the opportunities and pitfalls to come.
