Hot off the press!

02 Mar 2022

It has been 12 months since the last Cornerstone Barristers’ Housing Newsletter but we haven’t been idle during that time! For example, we have:

We have also added to the team with the wonderful additions of Sarah Salmon and Alistair Cantor, and Daryl Hughes as a Team Leader in the clerking team. In fact, Sarah & Alistair are co-hosting the first webinar of the year on 7 March The cost of getting it wrong – ASB and the Equality Act 2010 and both have written articles for this newsletter.

There are also three other webinars organised – Andy will be speaking with Riverside Housing Group’s Counter Fraud Specialist, Raj Vine, on 15 March on Sub-letting & unlawful profit orders – getting over the line, and he will be joined by Dean Underwood and Riccardo Calzavara on 12 May Recent developments in PSED law and practice – A housing practitioner’s guide to the Public Sector Equality Duty. Tara and Catherine Rowlands will also shortly host a webinar on the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 for housing practitioners – details will be confirmed soon, so watch this space.

Special congratulations are also due to four of the team – Kuljit Bhogal and Ryan Kohli have both been appointed Recorders, Jennifer Oscroft has been appointed as a Fee-Paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, and Dr Sam Fowles has been asked to join the Chair of the Bar’s advisory group on the Human Rights Act.

Finally to the joint editors, with Tara being awarded a Pegasus Scholarship and as a result editing this newsletter from New York, and Andy having had the 2nd edition of his book, Cornerstone on Social Housing Fraud published in April 2021.

Enjoy the read!
