R (Dignity Funerals Ltd) v Huntingdonshire DC [2019] EWHC 2114 (Admin)

Successfully defended Huntingdonshire DC’s decision to grant planning permission for a crematorium to a local Town Council. The judicial review claim was brought by Dignity, whose rival scheme had been refused by the Council but granted on appeal. The challenge was based on specific criticisms of the Officer Report which had recommended the grant of permission in circumstances where there was an acknowledged need for both schemes, but the precise location of the Town Council’s scheme was preferred.
