A six-day public inquiry opens today into a 100% affordable housing scheme in the Bath & Bristol Green Belt.

The proposals would see 35 affordable housing units delivered adjacent to the village of Long Ashton, where there is an accepted and significant local affordable housing need.

The contentious issues will be whether the scheme fits within the local policy on rural exception sites and whether there is harm to the Scheduled Ancient Monument, within the outer boundary of which the appeal site sits.

Ashley Bowes acts for the Appellant, Long Ashton Land Company, instructed by John Baird of Osborne Clarke.
