Commercial and Regulatory, Inquests and Inquiries, Cornerstone Climate, Planning and Environment

Cornerstone Barristers is pleased to announce that Gerard Forlin KC will participate as a speaker at the International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference 2025, taking place in Toronto.
His session will be held on Monday 3 November from 14:30 to 15:45 in Room 707, Level 700, MTCC, under the auspices of the Environment, Health and Safety Law Committee (lead) and the Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee.
Session: The Evolution of Environment, Health and Safety Laws — Spotlight on Psychosocial Risks
Gerard’s session will explore the global evolution of environment, health and safety (EHS) law, with a particular focus on the emerging inclusion of psychosocial risks (such as stress, bullying, and mental-health hazards) within EHS regimes. The programme will draw lessons from high-profile cases from around the world and emphasise how organisations can adapt proactive approaches to address both safety and psychosocial dimensions in the workplace.
Bill Kritharas of Sparke Helmore Lawyers (Sydney) will chair the session. Joining Gerard on the panel are:
- Jojo Mehta (Stop Ecocide International, Stroud, UK)
- Patrizia Luchetta (Eurofins, Luxembourg)
- Patricia Medeiros Barboza (CGM Advogados, São Paulo)
The session acknowledges a growing legal and regulatory trend toward recognising that worker health includes mental as well as physical safety, and that regulatory frameworks must evolve accordingly.
