Gerard Forlin KC: Ecocide law is moving faster than many predict
Cornerstone Climate, Commercial & Regulatory
Gerard Forlin KC has been quoted extensively in a new ENDS Report feature examining the accelerating global movement towards ecocide law and the implications for corporate and public decision-makers.
The article, which describes Gerard as “widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading barristers”, explores the increasing likelihood of ecocide legislation being introduced domestically and internationally, alongside growing calls for ecocide to become a crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

In the piece, Gerard comments on the “ever-growing momentum towards domestic legislation in this area” and the need for organisations and corporates to prepare for what he describes as inevitable legal developments in the not-too-distant future.
The publication follows Gerard’s recent webinar for LexisNexis, Ecocide Law 2026: The next wave of legal accountability, co-hosted with Jojo Mehta, founder of Stop Ecocide International, which examined ecocide and its practical implications for governments, corporates and civil society.
