Gerard Forlin QC will speak at the Astana Finance Law Conference
Gerard will speak at the Astana Finance Law Conference in Kazakhstan at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) on Wednesday 3 July. This is the first English-speaking Court in Central Asia, which opened at the beginning of 2018 and now has its Grand Opening with the IAC premises on 2nd July 2019, which Gerard is also attending.
In particular, Gerard will focus on:
1. International conventions and their application to the new jurisdiction
2. Regulatory issues affecting the AIFC
3. How the new court could support the aviation sector in its expansion in the region
Other speakers at the Conference include The Rt Hon The Lord Woolf CH (the Chief Justice of the AIFC Court), The Rt Hon Sir Jack Beatson FBA and The Rt Hon Sir Rupert Jackson (both Justices of the AIFC Court) and Barbara Dohmann QC (Chairman of the AIFC International Arbitration Centre).
