Global Aviation Expert Gerard Forlin KC Speaks on Mental Health and Safety to International Delegates

On Friday 27th June, Gerard Forlin KC, FRAeS, BL (Ireland) gave a speech, by webinar, to various Lawyers, Regulators and Aviation Medical Examiners about his recent work on mental health issues in Global Aviation on behalf of the Royal Aeronautical Society, of which he is a Fellow.

The webinar was organised and chaired by the Singapore Civil Aviation Authority, on behalf of many countries, and there were participants from over 23 countries from as far as Columbia, Australia, Finland and South Africa, and everywhere in between.

Gerard is widely recognised as being a leading figure in Global Aviation.  He has

  • Co-authored the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Aerospace Medical Association’s consensus statement on Driving Progress on Mental Health and Psychosocial Safety in Global Aviation.
  • He represented the majority of families in the Inquest into the Shoreham Air Crash, which claimed 11 lives, and other aviation matters.
  • He also served as a consultant to another recent Global Aviation Concordat on Aviation Safety.

Gerard has worked in over 85 countries and is the only barrister listed in the independent Legal Directories across all three practice areas: Aviation, Health and Safety, and Inquests and Inquiries.
