Planning & Environment, Climate Litigation

Congratulations to Hannah Taylor on being named a Rising Star in the ENDS Report Power List 2026, recognising the UK’s leading environmental professionals.

Since joining Cornerstone Barristers in late 2024, Hannah has been involved in several groundbreaking environmental cases, including a Supreme Court case that clarified how environmental protections for sensitive habitats apply within the planning system, and litigation arising from the collapse of a Brazilian mining dam, one of the world’s largest environmental disasters, involving claims brought by around 620,000 people and organisations affected by the tragedy.

The ENDS Report highlights Hannah’s work across complex planning and environmental matters and her commitment to widening access to justice through pro bono advice and public engagement.

Reflecting on the growing importance of environmental issues across all sectors, Hannah notes:

“Even if you’re not in an environmental role, you might think about how climate change could impact the area you’re working in or how your workplace could be made greener. Thinking creatively about the way environmental issues come into your role at the moment could be a really interesting way of developing into this sector, even if you’re not in the space.”

We are delighted to see Hannah’s achievements recognised by ENDS and look forward to following her continued success.
