David Welsh appeared as junior counsel for Susan Sinclair in the appeal against her conviction which was heard on Friday 29th September 2023. Ms Sinclair, a former sub-postmaster, was convicted in 2004 of embezzling a sum of money as a result of a fault in the Horizon computer system.
Ms Sinclair’s case was investigated by the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission and referred to the High Court on the ground that Ms Sinclair had suffered a miscarriage of justice. Ms Sinclair’s conviction was quashed at the hearing on Friday.
