Secure your licensing committee training for 2026
With the 2026 elections approaching, many local authorities are already planning training for councillors who will soon take their seats on Licensing Committees.
Cornerstone’s team of experienced licensing barristers are now taking bookings to deliver practical, comprehensive training for licensing authorities in the post-election period.
Our offer
Our sessions are designed to support both newly appointed and experienced councillors, helping them understand their roles, responsibilities, and the legal framework governing licensing decisions.
Training can be tailored to your authority’s needs and may cover the full range of licensing topics, including:
• Premises licensing
• Taxi and private hire licensing
• Gambling regulation
• Sexual Entertainment Venues (SEVs)
• Street trading and scrap metal licensing
• Licensing hearings and appeals
We are offering a range of flexible training options available throughout May, June and July:
In-person training: 2–3 hour session delivered at your offices by up to two barristers.
Online training: 1–2 hour live session delivered by one barrister, including a recording for future use.
Free introduction to licensing law: A short introductory resource available on our website for councillors who are new to alcohol licensing or taxi licensing.
