Andrew Lane to Speak at the Annual Fraud Conference 2025
Andrew Lane of Cornerstone Barristers will be among the expert speakers at this year’s Annual Fraud Conference, organised by Oxford Investigation Service and held at Oxford Town Hall on Thursday, 20 November 2025.
The Annual Fraud Conference is recognised as one of the leading events in its field, bringing together professionals from across the public and private sectors to share best practice, insight and innovation in the detection and prevention of fraud.
For Andrew, the conference carries a particular connection. Having worked in Oxford between 1987 and 1997 as part of Citizens Advice’s Oxfordshire Money Advice Project, and serving as an Oxford City Councillor from 1991 to 1995 — including almost two years as Chair of the Housing Committee — the event marks a return to familiar ground.
During the conference, Andrew will deliver two specialist break-out sessions. The first, titled “Housing Allocation Fraud – Improving the Prospects of Court Success,” will explore one of his core areas of practice and expertise. This session will focus on the importance of thorough investigation, effective evidence collation, and strategic use of the rules of evidence, along with structured cross-examination and well-crafted closing submissions.
Later in the day, Andrew will lead a second session on “Investigating Shared Ownership,” examining how similar evidential challenges arise in shared ownership cases, though often requiring different litigation approaches.
Andrew Lane is widely regarded as a leading authority on social housing fraud. The third edition of his book, Cornerstone on Social Housing Fraud, is nearing completion and is expected to be published in the coming months.
