Cornerstone Barristers supports Bar Mock Trial Competition
The training video takes the form of a mock trial and provides tips and guidance on advocacy, the trial process and in particular how to conduct the questioning of witnesses.
Students aged 15-18 in schools across the country who are taking part in the Bar National Mock Trial Competition will be able to use the video as an online training resource throughout the competition process.
Schools applied for the competition in April and the first round of regional heats will take place across the UK in November 2015 with the winners of each heat proceeding to a grand final at the Old Bailey in April 2016.
Tom Cosgrove, Jenny Oscroft, Robin Green, Ryan Kohli and Emma Dring from Cornerstone Barristers all took part in the video.
Tom Cosgrove comments: “This is a great initiative and we are very pleased to be part of it. The competition not only provides an invaluable insight into the inner workings of our legal system but also helps to make the legal profession more accessible for young people.”
Citizenship Foundation comments: “These video resources will be hugely beneficial to the schools taking part in the Bar Mock Trial Competition. Cornerstone Barristers’ involvement shows their commitment to expanding legal knowledge amongst young people and the contribution barristers make to society above and beyond their day-to-day work.”
