21 May 2025

Cornerstone Climate, Planning and Environment

Estelle Dehon KC and Nina Pindham have been named among the 13 most impactful lawyers in the UK environmental sector, earning their place on the prestigious ENDS Power List 2025 in the Lawyer category.

Now in its fourth year, the ENDS Power List celebrates 100 individuals across the UK whose work has made a significant positive impact on the environment over the past two years. The 2025 edition continues to spotlight exceptional professionals whose contributions are nominated by colleagues, clients, and even competitors.

Estelle and Nina’s continued inclusion in the power list (they have both made the power list multiple times) reflects their outstanding legal advocacy in support of environmental justice, policy and protection. Notably, they were both at the forefront of the groundbreaking Finch litigation, one of the most high profile and precedent-setting environmental legal cases in the UK.

Over the past year, Estelle Dehon KC has led successful legal challenges to major coal and oil developments, reinforcing environmental safeguards against high-emission projects. She has advised local authorities on embedding net zero objectives within planning frameworks, helping to mainstream climate priorities into local governance. At the national level, she has contributed to reform efforts aimed at accelerating grid decarbonisation. In addition, Estelle co-led Bar-wide initiatives to integrate climate ethics into legal practice, setting a precedent for how the legal profession can respond to the climate crisis.

Nina Pindham has also had a standout year. She authored A Practical Guide to Biodiversity Net Gain (2024, Law Brief Publishing), providing crucial insight into one of the UK’s emerging environmental planning requirements. Nina represented a major nature conservation charity in a groundbreaking Supreme Court appeal involving the interpretation of the Habitats Regulations 2017 and the Ramsar Convention. She also played a central role in a successful High Court judicial review, which found the UK Government’s Carbon Budget Delivery Plan unlawful — a ruling that requires the Secretary of State to produce a revised plan within 12 months.

Congratulations to Estelle Dehon KC and Nina Pindham as well as all the professionals who made the list on this well-deserved recognition.
