Estelle Dehon KC Named Barrister of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2025
Cornerstone Climate, Public Law and Judicial Review, Planning and Environment

We’re thrilled to celebrate Estelle Dehon KC being named Barrister of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2025!
Estelle’s groundbreaking work in public and environmental law has made a profound impact over the past year. At the heart of her success is the Supreme Court victory in R (Finch) v Surrey County Council – a groundbreaking case that reshaped how UK planning authorities assess the climate impacts of fossil fuel developments. The judgment firmly established that greenhouse gas emissions from the use of extracted oil must be considered in environmental assessments – a precedent-setting win for climate accountability and public participation.
But Estelle’s influence hasn’t stopped there. Since the Finch ruling, she’s played a central role in successfully challenging new coal and oil projects, has been involved in key cases on the habitat and nature protection and is working with local authorities to embed net zero principles into planning policies – ensuring climate-conscious development becomes the norm, not the exception.
From driving strategic litigation to advising on ethical practice and sustainability across the legal sector, Estelle continues to lead with intellect and integrity.
An award richly deserved – congratulations Estelle!
