We’re proud to share that Estelle Dehon KC has been shortlisted for Barrister of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2025.

Estelle’s nomination recognises her outstanding work in public, planning and environmental law, most notably her lead role in the groundbreaking Supreme Court victory in R (Finch) v Surrey CC. The decision—hailed as a milestone for climate litigation—clarified the legal obligation to assess downstream emissions in fossil fuel projects and reinforced public participation in environmental decision-making.

Her impact didn’t stop there. In the last 18 months alone, Estelle:

  • Led successful challenges to major coal and oil projects,
  • Advised local authorities in embedding net zero policies into planning law,
  • Contributed to grid decarbonisation reform at national level, and
  • Co-led Bar-wide efforts to embed climate ethics into legal practice.

With her combination of legal excellence, advocacy, and climate leadership, Estelle exemplifies the future of the Bar.

Huge congratulations to Estelle and all the other inspiring nominees. Winners will be announced on 17 June 2025.
