Commercial and Regulatory

We are proud to announce that Gerard Forlin KC has been appointed a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, the world’s oldest aeronautical society, founded in 1866

Gerard is only one of a tiny handful of Lawyers to have ever been made a fellow of the Royal Society, partly due to his extensive global (having worked in over 80 countries) aviation experience over many decades and also more recently his extensive legal work relating to mental health issues in the aviation sector.

Gerard recently led a groundbreaking aviation mental health initiative drafting the majority of a consensus statement backed by Royal Aeronautical Society and the Aerospace Medical Association titled Driving Progress on Mental Health and Psychosocial Safety in Global Aviation. This document is widely seen as the blueprint regarding the response to mental health in the aviation (and other) sectors. This work follows a paper on the Mental Health Challenge in Civil Aviation that Gerard co-authored on behalf of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

It is believed that Gerard is the first member of Cornerstone Barristers, founded in 1880, which has produced many eminent lawyers and Judges, to have been made a fellow of a Royal Society.

Congratulations to Gerard on this well-deserved recognition.
