Leading Scottish public law silk Paul Reid KC joins Cornerstone Barristers

Cornerstone Barristers is delighted to announce that Paul Reid KC has joined chambers as a tenant.
Called to the Bar of England and Wales, Paul joins Cornerstone following a distinguished practice in Scotland, where he took silk in 2023 and has established a leading reputation in public, regulatory and healthcare law.
Between 2020 and taking silk, Paul served as First Standing Junior Counsel to the Scottish Government. In that role, he advised on a broad range of public law matters and appeared in numerous high-profile cases of constitutional significance, including the 2022 Referendum Reference before the Supreme Court and the challenge to the section 35 order relating to the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill.
Since taking silk, Paul has continued to advise and represent the Scottish Government and other public authorities on a range of significant and high-profile matters.
Alongside his public law practice, Paul has extensive experience advising the NHS in Scotland and medical defence unions on clinical liability and regulatory issues. His healthcare work includes advising health boards in end-of-life cases and appearing in the leading modern Scottish authority concerning refusal of consent by a Jehovah’s Witness child.
