The Case for Ecocide: In Conversation with Gerard Forlin KC and Jojo Mehta

18 Feb 2026

Cornerstone Barristers is pleased to host an in-person seminar exploring one of the most significant emerging developments in environmental and international law – the growing movement to recognise ecocide as an international crime.

On Thursday 5th march at 5pm, we are delighted to host a special conversation with two of the world’s leading experts in ecocide law – well known ecocide lawyer Gerard Forlin KC, who has spoken widely on this topic and Jojo Mehta, Co-Founder and CEO of Stop Ecocide International. The conversation will be chaired by Estelle Dehon KC.

Their conversation will set out the broad case for ecocide law – why it is needed, why momentum is building now, the legal implications, and how recent diplomatic milestones at both regional and global levels are shaping its trajectory, while also addressing its relevance against the backdrop of current geopolitical challenges.

Both Jojo and Gerard spoke at the International Bar Association Conference in Toronto on this very important topic in November 2025.

This interactive session will provide ample opportunity for audience questions and discussion, offering attendees valuable insight into the future direction of international environmental accountability.

Join us after the seminar for a networking drinks reception where you’ll be able to meet our speakers, barristers and clerks in a relaxed setting.
