Licensing

In a long anticipated decision in a licensing appeal which has attracted international attention, Westminster Magistrates’ Court has this afternoon allowed the statutory appeal of Uber London Limited against the refusal of its application for a renewal of its Private Hire Vehicle Operator’s licence for London.

As a result of the decision of the Chief Magistrate Dame Emma Arbuthnot, Uber may continue to operate in the Capital under a fifteen month licence, subject to additional conditions.

Ranjit Bhose QC and Philip Kolvin QC were part of Uber’s counsel team, along with Tom de la Mare QC and Hanif Mussa of Blackstone Chambers. They were instructed by Charles Brasted of Hogan Lovells International LLP.
