On Friday 29th August, the Court of Appeal gave judgment in the case of Epping Forest District Council v Somani Hotels Ltd (the Secretary of State for the Home Department seeking to intervene). The Court overturned the decision of Eyre J (1) refusing to allow the Secretary of State to join the proceedings as an intervener and (2) granting an interim injunction that required the closure of the Bell Hotel in Epping to asylum seekers. The Council has today lodged an application with the Court of Appeal for permission to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Philip Coppel KC, Robin Green and Natasha Peter acted for Epping Forest District Council.
