FreeOn 11 September 2024, the Government introduced the Renters’ Rights Bill into Parliament, and it received its first reading in the House of Commons. The headlines have understandably been about the abolition of assured shorthold tenancies and the Bill’s impact on the 11 million private renters in England.
However, the reforms will affect the social housing sector too – changes to notices seeking possession times and grounds of possession, removal of shared ownership agreements from the Housing Act 1988, the ending of fixed-term tenancies and more.
This webinar will look at the Bill and consider what the social housing sector – in particular housing associations – need to be aware of and plan for. Led by the Joint Head of the Housing Team at Cornerstone Barristers, Kuljit Bhogal KC, she will be joined by Andrew Lane and Sarah Salmon.
This topic will be also be discussed at Cornerstone Barristers Housing Day 2024 on 14th October in Central London. Learn more about the conference here.
