The Coronavirus pandemic has impacted upon many areas of law, both directly and indirectly.

In terms of homelessness, there has been nothing in the way of legislative or regulatory changes but there has been a clear central and local government drive to remove rough sleepers from the streets, as well as an inevitable increase in approaches to Homeless Persons Units and other agencies directly referable to the current situation. This is all at a time when investigations into such inquiries are necessarily affected.

In this webinar, Catherine Rowlands, Andy Lane and Tara O’Leary, from Cornerstone Barristers’ Housing and Public Law Teams, consider this impact and focus in particular on the rough sleeper initiative, the issues of priority need, intentionality and homelessness/threatened with homelessness, and the issues faced by front-line officers investigating cases and securing information.
