Inquiry Into Leeds Bradford Airport Night Flights Begins

An inquiry into the night-time flying controls at Leeds Bradford Airport is set to begin today. The three appeals, being heard together this week, turn on the correct legal interpretation of the planning permission under which the Airport operates. The Airport seeks to construe the conditions to allow significantly greater night-time flights, which both the Council and other Rule 6 parties argue misinterprets the planning permission.

Estelle Dehon KC and Ruchi Parekh are representing the Group for Action against Leeds Bradford Airport (GALBA). They have worked with GALBA since 2020, including on the Airport’s previous planning application to expand the airport’s capacity, which was withdrawn following the Secretary of State’s decision to call in the application.
