Lisa acted for British Waterways (the predecessor organisation to the Canal and River Trust) in an application by the local planning authority to strike out the appellant Irish Travellers’ appeal against the decision of an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State dismissing their appeal against a decision to refuse planning permission for change of use of land for the stationing of two caravans and three touring caravans in the vicinity of Wilstone Reservoir in Hertfordshire, and appeal against an enforcement notice issued with respect to the same development. The appeal was brought, inter alia, on grounds relating to Article 8 of the ECHR. The application to strike out was granted on 8 April 2009.
