Peggy Etiebet, Joint Head of the Cornerstone Health & Social Care Team, is hosting a morning seminar aimed at enabling local authorities to decide whether any individual is ordinarily resident in their area. The seminar is specifically designed for social workers, adult social care managers and local authority lawyers.

Teaching materials will include anonymised real life practical examples, as well as notes on the law. At the end of the seminar attendees will be able to:

  • Review historic cases to determine if they are your responsibility and take appropriate action;
  • Identify at an early stage which current cases are yours e.g. before a discharge from hospital;
  • Review policies and procedures to rationalise when the duty is owed e.g. discharge from section 117 aftercare.
