Gerard Forlin QC acts in major Falklands miss-fishing quota case
International lawyer Gerard Forlin QC has been involved in a major case in the Falklands concerning miss-fishing by a Spanish company. After many months and various submissions on complicated issues of domestic and international law, the prosecution dropped the main charges and only pleas relating to the strict liability aspects were entered on behalf of the company. This meant the fines were greatly reduced and the 3 ships owned by the company could not be seized.
Gerard has previously been involved with a number of fishing quota cases – a highly complicated and specialised area which often covers multiple legal jurisdictions. Gerard has worked in over 60 countries and his international practice means he is often called on to advise on highly complex criminal, civil and commercial matters worldwide.
