Inquests and Inquiries

Today, Gerard Forlin KC begins a three-week inquest into the Shoreham Airshow disaster.

The disaster occurred in August 2015, when a jet crashed onto the motorway during a display at the Shoreham Airshow, claiming the lives of 11 people.

Gerard acts for the majority of the families who lost their loved ones in the crash. He has acted as leading counsel in a number of related hearings since 2017.

The first two days of the inquest will focus on the bereaved families, who will have the opportunity to share pen portraits of their loved ones.

The inquest hopes to bring this long and difficult journey – which has seen an AAIB investigation, criminal proceedings, High Court proceedings and 11 pre-inquest review hearings – to a close for the families, more than seven years after the disaster occurred.

Gerard is instructed by Stewarts Law (Sarah Stewart); Russell-Cooke Solicitors (Dominic Fairclough); and DMH Stallard LLP (Tessa Grayson). He acts alongside junior counsel Kirsten Heaven (of 30 Park Place and Garden Court Chambers).
