Kuljit Bhogal of Cornerstone Barristers has been shortlisted in the Professions category for the Asian Women of Achievement Awards 2016 which will take place in London on Tuesday 12 May 2016.

The awards, hosted in association with NatWest, celebrate Asian women who have achieved success in a diverse range of fields, from culture and public service through to business and entrepreneurship.

The professions award recognises women who have not only demonstrated excellence in their profession but also benefitted wider society through their work.  Kuljit joins five other leading practitioners from the fields of law, architecture and medicine.

Kuljit is a public law practitioner specialising in social housing, community care and Court of Protection work.  She is also the author of ‘Cornerstone on Anti-Social Behaviour: The New Law’ which was published in February 2015.

She is currently advising a number of local authorities on the introduction of Public Space Protection Orders which allow lawful activity to be regulated if it is detrimental to the use of public space. These orders have proved controversial attracting much attention from interest groups concerned about the impact on civil liberties.

Philip Kolvin, Head of Chambers, said: “Kuljit’s nomination is a testament to her talent, drive and energy, which is an inspiration to all of us at Cornerstone Barristers”.
