Licensing, Property

Brentwood Borough Council has suspended the premises licence of Bloc 40 on Brentwood High Street until 20 August 2021.

The Council has also modified the conditions of the premises licence with a view to promoting the licensing objectives, including the prevention of crime and disorder. The decision followed an application under section 53A of the Licensing Act 2003 by Essex Police for a summary review of the premises licence on the basis that the premises are associated with serious crime and disorder.

The application was made because of an incident of serious violence at the premises in which two people were stabbed. Our Ben Du Feu acted as legal advisor to Brentwood Borough Council’s licensing sub-committee.
