Cornerstone Barristers is very pleased that the St Ives Neighbourhood Plan has been awarded the Neighbourhood Planning Award at this year’s Planning Awards 2017.

The Awards celebrate projects which are shown to have significantly benefited communities across areas such as urban design, economic development, housing or regeneration. This truly innovative plan was devised by the St Ives Town Council, supported by Cornwall Council, to address the important needs of the local housing market. The plan contained policies to prevent new market housing being used for second and holiday homes.

Mark Lowe QC and Jack Parker successfully represented Cornwall Council in a landmark case regarding the neighbourhood plan which tested the compatibility of these restrictive policies with the European Convention on Human Rights.

Mark has written an article on the case for Planning Magazine
