Prominent Health and Safety Expert Gerard Forlin KC to speak at the International Bar Association (IBA)
Gerard Forlin KC will take to the stage at the IBA Annual Conference in Mexico City where he’ll speak at a session titled “Health and Safety: Good for People, Planet and Profits! Responsibilities, Liabilities and Criminal Ramifications“, to be held on Tuesday, 17 September, from 11:15 AM to 12:30 PM.
This event, led by the International Bar Association’s Environment, Health, and Safety Law Committee, aims to underscore the expanding influence of health and safety regulations on businesses and society. The discussion will delve into how effective health and safety measures benefit not only individuals but also the environment and corporate profits, while also addressing the increasing complexity of associated liabilities and criminal risks.
Gerard, a leading figure in health and safety, and environmental law, will join a distinguished panel of global experts. His insights, particularly regarding legal obligations and criminal ramifications, including ecocide and psychosocial responsibilities, will provide vital guidance for businesses navigating the challenges of compliance and risk management. Gerard’s extensive experience in high-profile cases makes him a key voice on the responsibilities and liabilities that companies face when health and safety regulations are breached.
Alongside Gerard, speakers include Lloyd Chinn from Proskauer Rose in New York, Tzvetomira Radoslavova of the International Labour Organization in Peru, and Adrian del Paso from Assembla in Mexico. The session will be chaired by Bill Kritharas of Sparke Helmore Lawyers, based in Sydney.
Gerard has spoken at previous IBA conferences in Madrid, Vancouver, Miami, Rome, Seoul, Paris and many others. He has worked in over 80 countries (some more then 30 times).
