Shomik acted in a sequence of lengthy boundary disputes involving land in Chichester. Both cases concerned the uncertain position relating to an ancient parish boundary, a sloe hedge of some antiquity and the correct boundary of farmland purchased by developers. This was complicated by the absence of an operative conveyance in either case. The disputes involved documentary evidence spanning about 300 years. After judgment, various arguments subsisted as to the appropriate remedy, including whether an order for damage should be made in lieu of an injunction to reinstate the position of an old fence.
