UK Inflation Indexation and the replacement of the RPI – A (pressing) conundrum

The RPI is not fit for purpose and is likely to be replaced by CPIH – the Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs by not later than 2030. The prevalence of the adoption of RPI in long dated contracts from index-linked Gilts to pensions means that the change will be problematic, both legally and financially.
