Dr Sam Fowles has been nominated as Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year
We are very pleased to annouce that Dr Sam Fowles has been nominated as Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year at the Advocate Pro Bono Awards.
Sam acted on a pro bono basis in the case of Stanley v Information Commissioner and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (sub judice), Instructed by Christopher Stanley of KRW Solicitors.
Sam and Christopher acted on behalf of the families of the victims of the Birmingham Pub Bombings in 1974. They sought the publication of information about how the government of the day had assessed the terrorist threat. This information could be vital to the families’ ongoing quest for justice for their loved ones.
“Since 1997 the Bar Pro Bono Awards have been given every year in recognition of outstanding commitment to pro bono work by barristers or chambers. Since then pro bono has developed, broadened and grown, and it is increasingly difficult to choose one winner from a set of nominees clearly working in different areas” – weareadvocate.org.uk
