This was an appeal against the Council’s decision to restrict the hours and capacity of a pub / nightclub known as the Star of Kings following a review brought by a local resident. DJ Crane sitting at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court considered evidence from local residents both for and against the premises as well as expert noise evidence. In upholding the Council’s decision, the DJ found that a few residents had suffered noise disturbance in the early hours of the morning due to anti-social behaviour caused by customers of the premises, and that the management had been unable to prevent it. The conditions imposed were both appropriate and proportionate including the restriction on capacity.
