Estelle Dehon KC has been named Planning and Environment Silk of the Year at the prestigious Chambers UK Bar Awards 2024.
In recent years, Estelle has emerged as a leading voice in the field of planning law and climate litigation, particularly in matters involving net zero and energy infrastructure.
Notable highlights from her career include her work on groundbreaking cases such as:
- Finch in the Supreme Court, the leading case on the climate impacts of fossil fuel developments, followed by the Cumbria Coal Mine case applying Finch.
- A Court of Appeal challenge addressing emergency planning for fracking operations in the UK.
- Advising a number of local authorities on net zero and energy efficiency planning policies.
- Advising international NGOs on aviation and shipping emissions under the Paris Agreement.
Her expertise extends to National Infrastructure examinations, including major cases involving Gatwick Airport, Norfolk Vanguard, and Hornsea 3, as well as planning inquiries such as Bristol Airport and prominent renewable energy projects.
Having taken silk in 2022, the following year Estelle founded Cornerstone Climate, a cross-disciplinary centre of excellence for climate litigation and advisory services.
