New Pan London Adult Safeguarding Policy Launched
The keenly awaited new Pan London Adult Safeguarding Policy and Procedures was launched yesterday at a celebratory event at BMA House, Tavistock Square, London.
The new policy aims to deliver consistency across London in the way that all organisations respond to concerns about vulnerable adults at risk. It is the first time that such a policy has been agreed between ADASS, the Metropolitan Police and NHS England, paving the way for a more effective multi-agency approach.
Speaking at the event, Derek Oliver, Assistant Director (Commissioning Care Services, Adult & Community Services), London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, stated that it was his ambition for London to lead the world in adult safeguarding. ADASS made a commitment to keep the policy up-to-date through periodic reviews. All those using the policy were invited to provide feedback to ADASS which can inform this process and lead to further improvements in safeguarding for vulnerable Londoners.
The new policy can be found here.
Bryan McGuire QC and Matt Hutchings acted as legal editors, instructed by ADASS. They are part of Cornerstone’s team which provided the Care Act manual and Care Act training for the Local Government Association.
