The appointment of Planning Team members Paul Shadarevian and Tom Cosgrove to QC is the latest in a series of exciting developments for the team this year. The addition of two new planning silks, brings the number of QCs in the team to 11 and further strengthens the team following the silk appointments of Michael Bedford QC and Richard Ground QC in last year’s round.

In the last few months, the team has been involved in several significant cases, such as appearing in RLT Built Environment Ltd v Cornwall Council, securing permission for the £7m Beccles Southern Relief Road, and acting in ongoing judicial review challenges concerning fracking in Lancashire. Team members Jonathan Clay and Ashley Bowes are also soon to appear in the key Supreme Court case on the NPPF in which Suffolk Coastal District Council and Cheshire East Council will appeal the landmark decision of the Court of Appeal in Suffolk Coastal D.C. v Hopkins Homes and Richborough Estates Partnership LLP v Cheshire East Borough Council.

In recognition of these achievements, Cornerstone Barristers was shortlisted for Set of the Year in the Public Law and Real Estate, Environment and Planning categories in the Legal 500 Awards 2017 earlier in the year.
