Sizewell C issue specific hearing sessions commence

Tomorrow, the Planning Inspectorate will begin to hear two weeks of evidence as part of their examination of a proposal by NNB Generation Company (SZC) Ltd for a Development Consent Order under the Planning Act 2008 to authorise a new nuclear power station at Sizewell, on the Suffolk coast. The six month examination period is due to be completed by 14 October 2021.

The proposal for a twin reactor power station, is planned to sit alongside the Sizewell B and A stations.

If the Development Consent Order is granted, the design will follow that of Hinkley Point C and take 9-12 years to construct, with a projected 60-year operational life.
